Dr. Wilckyster Nyarindo
Dr. Wilckyster Nyarindo is an agricultural economist with expertise in adopting improved agricultural technologies, productivity, and market participation, focusing on Kenya and Uganda. Her research evaluates the impacts of climate-resilient technologies, potato seed multiplication, and smallholder farmers' satisfaction with agricultural extension on household food security. She also investigates collective action, women empowerment, and economic and gender participation in the edible insect value chain using secondary data analysis.
Wilckyster holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from University of Western Australia in Perth and she is currently serving as a Lecturer at University of Embu.
Wilckyster's work during her Short Research Stay
As an ODFP fellow, Dr Wilckyster Nyarindo was hosted by the Department of Agricultural Economics by Prof. Dr. Hans De Steur in the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering. During this time, she engaged in various activities and participated in ongoing research at her institution and in Flanders.
She contributed to the market potential of the gene-edited foods project, documenting progress and developing new research designs. She helped establish new research activities using Flemish databases and participated in proposal writing. Additionally, she attended Flemish research group activities and expanded her collaborative network with stakeholders.
